Info for 2008 Delta Region High Peformance Camp and Team
This is a copy of an email sent to all members on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in regards to the High
Performance programs offered in the Delta Region this season. If you have any questions, please

USA SELECT: GIRLS BORN 1994, 1995 & AFTER
The 40 best 12-14 year old players in the Delta Region of USA Volleyball, will again make their
way to Lyon College on Memorial Day weekend for the 2008 Delta Region USA Select Camp.
These top volleyball players will come from Clubs throughout the Delta Region.This is the third
straight year that Lyon College has hosted the Camp, and the third straight year that
Coach Justin Dee has directed the High Performance program within the Delta Region.
The Delta Region puts on these Regional High level camps to help in developing the great
talent within the USA Volleyball pipeline. The selection process will be somewhat different
this year. Each Club Director may nominate three players from their club and one player from
a competitors club to participate in the camp. The top 40 vote getters will be selected to
attend the camp. The girls will be put through over 12 hours of drills and competitions to further
their skills and talent.
"It is always amazing”," exclaims Coach Dee. "To see how much talent
14-year olds have in this region. We will select one representative from our camp to attend
the USA Volleyball National Development Camp to be held later in the summer. The Delta Region
is becoming more and more competitive on the national level, and it is so awesome to watch and
be a part of. I look forward to additional Delta Region teams making an impact nationally as the
High Performance program begins to pay off as we continue to develop the great young talent
into great athletes at the next level."
GIRLS YOUTH: GIRLS BORN 1992 & 1993
In addition to the USA Select Camp, the Delta Region is also proud to announce the organization
of a High Performance Team to compete at the 2008 High Performance National Championships.
A group of girls will be chosen to represent the Delta Region in the tournament July 23-27
in the Tucson Convention Center exhibition halls and arena in downtown Tucson, Arizona.
Earning a position on the team will launch our players into the spotlight competing in the
national youth girls division against teams from across the United States. High Performance
Teams typically play one to two matches per day in an FIVB (international) format, rather than
a JOVB format. While some sponsorships and fundraisers are expected, families should anticipate
paying for their own athlete’s travel costs, housing and other expenses of the event.
Tryouts for the team will be in April with more information about the tryout site, time, and date
coming soon. The age category of this youth team will consist of girls born in 1992 and 1993.
The Delta Region High Performance team will be coached by James Hanger.
Currently Coach Hanger is the assistant volleyball coach at Christian Brothers University
and a staff coach at Memphis Metro volleyball club. Early registration for the tryout will begin
when the tryout date has been determined.
