Four MJVA Players Recognized
Each year PrepVolleyball.com recognizes volleyball standouts who “are ready to raise their games to the next level.” This year four proud MJVA Athletes were recognized on this list! Congratulations to Callie Anderton (2017, S), Raleigh Clark (2017, MB), Hannah Cox (2018, MB) and Kendal Strand (2017, OH) for this distinction!
Callie Anderton, 5-11 Jr. Setter, Briarcrest (Eads, Tennessee) – One of Anderton’s strengths is her fast feet and the ability to keep her team in a high-tempo offense. It could mean a big season is ahead for Anderton, who also will hurt opponents with a rocket serve. She is approaching 2,500 assists for her career.
Raleigh Clark, 6-3 Jr. MB, Charlotte Country Day (North Carolina) – Clark moved to Charlotte from Memphis and joins a Charlotte Country Day team that graduated five seniors. She recently committed to the University of North Carolina and figures to be one of the team’s focal points this fall. “She will be an absolute force at the net this season, both offensively and defensively,” Buccaneers coach Brian Rosen said. “Raleigh is strong and hits with incredible force. We are working hard on consistency and she has a chance to be one of the best players in the area.”
Hannah Cox, 5-4 Soph. Libero, Briarcrest (Eads, Tennessee) – Starting for Briarcrest since eighth grade, Cox keeps getting better and her game could expand to new heights in 2015. “Hannah is a student of the game and an incredibly smart player,” Briarcrest coach Carla Anderton said. “She is the team’s defensive captain and a very vocal player. Hannah is a magnet on serve receive and does a great job of reading the attackers. Look for Hannah to be breaking some dig records this season.”
Kendal Strand, 6-0 Jr. OH, Briarcrest (Eads, Tennessee) – A starting hitter for Briarcrest since eighth grade, Strand, who is committed to Samford University, stands to have an incredible fall. “Kendal is a go-to player when a sideout is needed,” Briarcrest coach Carla Anderton said. “She is a six-rotation player that has all the tools to pick the opponent apart.”
